Dance on Disc

Contains the catalog of the Dance Collection of the New York Public Library, the world's largest collection of dance resources, including books, periodicals, visual material, and other information formats. Searches can be limited to journal articles. Coverage through 2003. More info

Librarian's Comment: You can search for articles by using the "Indexes" feature, limiting your search to "Articles." You may also limit by language and date. Citations and abstracts (summaries); no full-text.

New York Public Library of the Performing Arts: Dance Collection CatalogThis is the same collection contained on Dance on Disc (described above). It does not have the same limiting capabilities as the CD-ROM, but it is more current.

International Index to Music Periodicals Full Text restricted Indexes and abstracts articles from more than 430 music periodicals from 20+ countries, with full text coverage of 125 journals. Articles cover the full spectrum of subjects, popular to scholarly, and all aspects of music, including music education, performance, ethnomusicology, musical theater, theory, popular music forms, and composition. 30 journals are indexed in their entirety from their first issue, some as early as 1874.

Librarian's Comment: Useful for finding articles on dance music as well as choreographer/composer collaborations.

Wilson Select Plus restricted Index to full text articles in science, humanities, social sciences, education and business. The index includes records from: Readers' Guide Abstracts, Social Sciences Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, General Science Abstracts and Wilson Business Abstracts. Coverage: 1994 to the present. Updated weekly.

Librarian's Comment: Articles on dance from general periodical sources.

Physical Education Index restricted Indexes more than 230,000 articles in health, physical education, recreation, athletic training and dance. Coverage: 1970-present. Updated monthly.

Medline (FirstSearch) restricted The major index to medical research, from clinical medicine to cellular and biomolecular biology. Produced by the US National Library of Medicine. Coverage: 1965 - present. Updated daily.

Librarian's Comment: May be used for dance medicine and therapy, dancers' health and injuries, etc.
