LexisNexis Academic Indexes thousands of domestic and foreign newspapers, as well as journals, and other publications in News, Business company reports and articles, Legal Research, Medical and Reference. The legal research category includes law reviews, law news, federal and state laws and cases. Mostly full text. Coverage dates vary.
Million Dollar Directory
HC 102. D8 (Reference Desk Collection) Contains U.S. public and private businesses with an indicated worth of over $500,000. For each firm it usually gives officers and directors, line of business, SIC code, approximate sales, number of employees, stock exchange abbreviation, stock ticker symbol, division names, bank, accounting firms, and legal counsel. The first three volumes contain the alphabetical listings and the next two volumes are Series Cross Reference by Geography, indexing the company by location, and Series Cross Reference by Industry, indexing the companies by SIC codes.
Ward's Private Company Profiles HG 4009 .W374 (Ref. Desk Collection) Includes basic company information such as address and phone number, SIC codes, and executive officers. It contains a business description of what the company does and where it operates, and often gives interesting facts about the company. It also directs you to further reading.
Ward's Business Directory of U.S. Private and Public Companies
HG 4057 .A56 (Reference Desk Collection) 8 volumes. Vols. 1-3 contain data on more than 130,000 private and public companies, including for each, when available: year founded, description of products/services offered, approximate sales, number of employees, SIC codes, officers, fax number, stock exchange, ticker symbol, whether private or public, or a subsidiary. Vol. 4 lists the companies by location (zip code) and also contains ranked lists of the 1,000 largest privately held companies, the 1000 largest public companies. Vol. 5 provides a ranked list by sales within four-digit SIC. Vols. 6 and 7 rank within four-digit SIC code for states and vol. 8 ranks by sales within eight NAICS.
Standard & Poor's Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives
HG 4057 .A4 (Reference Desk Collection) A three volume set. The first volume describes more than 55,000 U.S. and some international companies, about 45,000 of which are private. Each entry usually gives officers, line of business, SIC codes, sales range, number of employees, the company's accounting firm, bank and law firm, and stock exchange symbol. It includes some subsidiaries listed separately from the parent company. The second volume is a listing of over 70,000 executives and directors, with brief data about each. Volume three contains the following indexes and lists: index of companies by SIC code; by geographic location; list of companies and individuals first time; corporate family indexes (cross-reference index for subsidiaries listed in vol. 1, and a listing of ultimate parent company); and an obituary section.
MarketLine Business Information Centre This database compiles business information using primary and secondary research to create 10,000 company, 2,000 industry, and 50 country profiles. MarketLine includes daily updates of relevant news, comments and analysis, company history, and a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) within company profiles.

HG 4142 .Z5 H66x (Reference Desk Collection) This book contains company profiles; lists of the larget, fastest growing, and most valuable companies of global importance; and indexes by industry, headquarters, and executives names.

HG 4057 .A28618 (Reference Desk Collection) The companies must be based in the U.S., have revenues between $30 million and $1 billion, and have sales growth of at least 20% per year annually or sales and net income growth of at least 15% each annually during the past five years. HF 54 .U5 P74 (Ref. Desk Collection) A comprehensive foreign directory, section 1 lists approximately 55,000 leading companies, arranged alphabetically by 143 countries. For each it notes chief officer, line of business, cable/telex, SIC number, year founded, approximate sales and number of employees, whether company exports or imports, and whether it is a subsidiary. Sections 2 and 3 are indexed by SIC and by company.
ThomasNet T 12 .T6 (Ref. Index Shelves) Formerly the Thomas Register, this is a free index of industrial products and services for manufacturers from United States and Canada with company and product information. Links available to company Web sites, CAD drawings, and catalogs give detailed buying and specifying information, including some pricing.
Companies and Their Brands T 223 .V4 A25 (Reference Desk Collection) Provides accesses too more than 282,000 consumer brands and about 51,000 manufacturers and distributors. Brands are presented first in an alphabetic sequence. Company listings follow in a separate section. When available, fax and toll-free numbers have been included.

Best's Insurance Reports: Life-Health HG 8943 .B3 (Ref.) The best known financial manual for U.S. and Canadian life/health companies, usually giving for each: a brief corporate history; management and operation; assets and liabilities; investment data; operating comment; Best's rating; statistics on company development; insurance in force; new business issued; accident and health written. At front is a list of state officials; at end a list of name change, retired companies, and reinsurance.
Best's Insurance Reports: Property-Casualty HG 9970 .P7B4x (Ref.) A companion manual to the one above, for U.S. property/casualty insurers and branches of foreign insurance companies operating in the U.S. At the end are: a directory of other insurers, underwriting organizations, name changes and retired companies, the list of companies arranged by state, a list of the 200 largest American property/casualty companies.
