AnthroSource restricted AnthroSource is a single database of newsletters, bulletins, and 11 peer-reviewed journals from the American Anthropological Association. 31 publications are represented in this searchable archive. Much of the material is full-text. Coverage varies for the past 100 years up to current journal issues.

Anthropology Bibliography on Disc

This compact disc indexes books and other non-journal resources held by the Tozzer Library/Peabody Museum at Harvard University. Subjects include prehistoric archaeology, ethnology and physical anthropology. Coverage is from 1866-1997. For 1997 to the present search Harvard's catalog.

eHRAF Archaeology restricted This is a cross-cultural database that currently contains nearly 60,000 pages of information on the world's prehistory. This annually updated eHRAF database is organized by archaeological traditions and the full-text sources are all subject-indexed to the paragraph level.

eHRAF World Cultures restricted The electronic Human Relations Area Files is a full-text cross-cultural database that contains over 350,000 pages of information on all aspects of cultural and social life written by social scientists, travelers and missionaries. Information is organized into cultures and ethnic groups and the sources are subject-indexed at the paragraph level. Updated annually. Coverage: 1866 to the present.

Abstracts in Anthropology restricted Abstracts of books, articles and conference papers in cultural and physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics. International coverage 2003 - date.

British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography restricted An extensive annotated bibliography of books and articles on the archaeology of Britain and Ireland with citations going back to the 17th century. Updated twice a year.

Depending upon your research, the core indexes listed above may need to be supplemented with indexes that cover religion, art, biology, history, sociology, or the humanities.  For example, you may need to use Web of Science for a special topic in paleoanthropology, Arts and Humanities Search for an aspect of archaeology, or Biosis Previews for a physical anthropology topic. Others that may be useful include America: History and Life, Art Abstracts, Historical Abstracts, Humanities Abstracts, GEOBASE, and Sociological Abstracts.

Arts and Humanities Search restricted (FirstSearch) Indexes articles from over 1,300 arts and humanities journals and selectively covers relevant articles from over 5,800 social science and science journals. Coverage is from 1980 to the present. Updated weekly. See also the Arts and Humanities Citation Index.

BIOSIS Previews restricted Comprehensive index with abstracts to periodical articles, reviews, and meetings in all the biological sciences disciplines. Coverage: 1969-present. Updated weekly.

GEOBASE restricted Indexes the major journals, books, monographs, conference proceedings and reports for geography, geology, and ecology. Coverage: 1980-present. Updated twice monthly.

GeoRef restricted Major index for geology and earth sciences which includes journal articles, books, maps, conference papers, reports, and theses. Coverage of North America: 1785-present, International: 1933-present. Updated twice monthly.

Medline (FirstSearch) restricted The major index to medical research, from clinical medicine to cellular and biomolecular biology. Produced by the US National Library of Medicine. Coverage: 1965 - present. Updated daily.

Scopus restricted Scopus is a very large abstract and indexing database primarily covering scholarly literature in science and social science. Use this to get extensive inter-disciplinary access to journal articles and also to find out which articles are being cited by other scholars. Scopus includes 14,000 peer-reviewed titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. Coverage from 1995. Tutorial

Social Sciences Abstracts restricted Indexes over 600 periodicals in anthropology, economics, ethnic studies, feminist studies, geography, human services, international relations, law and criminology, police science, political science, population studies, psychology, public administration, public health, social work, sociology, urban studies, and related social science subjects. Web of Science restricted Web of Science from the ISI Web of Knowledge contains three major databases covering all areas of knowledge: Science Citation Index Expanded (1900-present), Social Sciences Citation Index (1956-present), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-present). The literature can be searched by subject, author, journal title, and author's address. Cited Ref. Search allows users to search for articles that cite a particular author or work.
