Driving Directions

To get to the University’s main campus, take Interstate 94 to exit 74 North onto U.S. Route 131. Travel 2.8 miles on U.S. 131 N to Stadium Drive East or exit 36. From there, use the directions below for library locations.

Waldo Library

Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street, make the first right turn onto Western Avenue, make a right onto Ring Road South. Turn left on Arcadia Loop. Waldo Library is at the bend of the road when it turns right. Metered parking can be found on the first parking lot on the left side behind Waldo Library (Lot 28).

Swain Education Library

Stadium Drive east about 2.5 miles. Turn left on Oliver Street. Turn right onto Ring Road South, and then left onto West Michigan Avenue. Sangren Hall is at the end of the road, as is metered parking (Lots 68 and 69).

Maybee Music Library

Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street, make the first right turn onto Western Avenue, make the first left onto Ring Road South, and make the next right (Theatre Drive) to parking ramp. The Dalton Center is approximately 350 feet north of the parking ramp.

Zhang Legacy Collections Center: Archives and Regional History

Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn right on Howard Street for .5 miles. Turn left on Oakland Drive and then left on Calhoun. Parking lot is at the end of Calhoun (Lot 108).

Parking

  • Standard parking is enforced from midnight Sundays to 4 p.m. on Fridays.

  • From 4 p.m. on Fridays through midnight on Sundays, visitors may park for free in any A,C,F,K, or W parking lots.

Zhang Legacy Center, Archives and Regional History Collections

  • There are two free Guest parking spaces. The other spaces require a WMU permit or a day pass that may be purchased at the Archives desk.

Metered Parking

Waldo Library

  • There are four metered visitor parking spaces in the parking lot located directly behind Waldo Library (Lot 28).

Swain Education Library

  • There are numerous metered visitor parking spaces east of Sangren Hall (Lots 68-69).

 Maybee Music and Dance Library

  • There are numerous metered parking spaces in the parking garage southwest of the Dalton Center in the Miller Auditorium ramp.

Parking Permits

  • Guest permits may be purchased at the Parking Services office, or online at parking.wmich.edu.  A daily permit purchased online may be printed off by the guest and placed on the front dashboard of the vehicle. Daily permits are $5. Weekly permits are $15. More information about WMU parking.
  • Once the permit has been purchased, it must immediately be hung from the vehicle's rear-view mirror to avoid ticketing.
  • If ticketed before hanging the parking permit from the rear-view mirror, mail the ticket along with the parking permit to WMU Parking Services to cancel the ticket.
