Guide to Citations
Overview
The citation contains the basic information about a book or an article. You will need to include this information when you cite references in a research paper.
Books
A citation for a book includes the author's name, the title of the book, the date of publication, the city, and the publisher.
Example of a book citation:
MAIN AUTHOR: Hanson, Ward A. TITLE: Principles of internet marketing. PUBLISHER: Cincinnati, Ohio : South-Western College Pub., c2000.
Periodical Articles
The citation for a periodical article contains the author's name, the title of the article, the title of the source (periodical), the volume, issue, date, and page numbers. You will need information from the citation to locate an article in a periodical.
Example of an article citation:
AUTHOR: Savage, Frank X. TITLE: Internet guidance. SOURCE: Momentum (Washington, D.C.) v. 30 no1 (Feb./Mar. 1999) p. 32- 4
