Making of Modern Michigan Digitization Projects in West Michigan
- Library: Thornapple Kellogg School and Community Library
Location: Middleville, Michigan
Description: Digitization of fragile newspapers from the 19th century. The hometown newspaper, The Middleville Sun, is a weekly publication covering Barry County and parts of Kent and Allegan County. There are about 104 issues covering 1896-1897 that will be scanned. Extensive metadata will allow for limited searchability of the papers including many items of genealogical interest as well as the advertisements. The entire collection of newspapers ranges from 1890 to 1914. The plan is to eventually scan all the issues.
