'Michigan Manual of Freedmen’s Progress' book, 1915 edition has been fully digitized including
photographs, charts, and searchable text and is available as pdf files.

This book, published in 1915, was digitized in 2008 to fill a need for classroom support regarding an important out-of-print book on Michigan History. Accessibility and searchability for students, colleagues, and researchers are the primary goals. More information (metadata) about the book and the digitization is below. The 2 digital versions of the book are in Acrobat pdf file format. The large file is the complete book including all the photographs ansd illustrations. An optional smaller file without the photographs is also available. Both files are searchable. You may just click on the link to open the file within your browser. When open in Acrobat you can search the entire document of 371 pages by using the 'Find' window in the Acrobat tool bar. Search by word or phrase. For the next occurrance of your search word click on the right arrow to the right of the 'Find' window. One important note is that the hand-drawn tables starting on page 317 are not searchable because they could not be captured in the optical character recognition (OCR) software.
