Dean, University Libraries
Welcome to WMU, University Libraries, and our virtual presence on
the Internet. Our information professionals are eager to serve your
needs for materials essential to your teaching, learning, scholarship and intellectual
curiosity.
I invite you to tap into our resources when you search for new knowledge or
to clarify knowledge that you already possess. Our top pages are your access
portal to WestCat, our online catalog, databases, tutorials, Interlibrary Loan,
special collections, and much, much more. We have the requisite monographs, maps,
music, still and moving images, and serials for a comprehensive, research-intensive
institution of higher learning. Moreover, University Libraries does offer you
unique resources, such as local and regional historical documents, medieval manuscripts,
rare books, and poetry written by women. These can be consulted on the WMU campus
in Waldo, our main library, or at our four campus branch libraries (Music
and Dance, Education, Visual
Resources, and the Archives
and Regional History Collections).
I am extremely proud of our library technology, which allows us to be serviceable
to our patrons. Any user may access our databases, article indexes, e-books and
e-journals from anywhere on campus. A bona fide member of the WMU University
Community having a Bronco NetID and a valid Password, can also log onto these
electronic resources from anywhere in the world via the Internet.
If you wish to contact a faculty librarian with an information question, at
the beginning of your knowledge quest or after exhausting the possibilities of
access through our Web pages, simply click on the hotlink "Ask
a Librarian" on the University Libraries homepage. You will discover
several different options for proceeding. We are stewards of vast resources and
are most enthusiastic for you to access the treasures we possess.
As a service organization for you, our public, University Libraries strives
to facilitate your formation as life-long learners.
