Robert O. Brinkerhoff Endowed Scholarship for Organizational Learning & Performance

  • Must be a full-time graduate student pursuing a master's degree in organizational learning & performance
  • Recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
  • Special consideration given to single parents and adult students with experience living or working in diverse environments
  • Scholarship is renewable for a period of up to one year provided student remains a full-time graduate student in organizational learning & performance and has satisfactory academic progress.

Students and faculty wishing to nominate students should submit a notification of nomination/self-nomination by February 20 to . Students will then be sent a detailed email with directions and deadlines for submitting application materials to the awards website. Materials will include a statement of interest and qualifications (2-3 paragraphs, 1 page maximum) and an up-to-date vita.

Van E. Cooley Memorial Scholarship for Educational Leadership

This scholarship will support a graduate student in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology with a demonstrated interest in K-12 Education.

  • The recipient must engage in meaningful academic research or innovative projects aimed at improving K-12 education
  • The recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above
  • The recipient must collaborate with a school system similar in nature to which Western Michigan University participates with
  • The recipient must utilize technology to link the foregoing for advancing K-12 student learning
  • The scholarship deadline will be March 1 and the award will be dispersed by the start of that Fall semester

Paul and Phyllis Griffeth Endowed Student Affairs Scholarship

  • Awarded to a master or doctoral student in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology with interest in Student Affairs and Higher Education
  • Recipient must maintain good academic standing (3.25 minimum grade point average)
  • Award available for tuition, fees and book expenses only

Faculty nominations of students for this award will be accepted until Feb. 15 for the following fall.

Howard O. Lindsey Graduate Scholarship for Minority Students

  • Enrolled full-time in graduate studies in the Educational Leadership program
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Preferences given to minority graduate students, with first preference to African-American students.
  • Amount of award shall be determined by the awarding department committee, and shall be used for tuition and fees only.
  • Preference will be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need.
  • Awards will be accepted through Mar. 1 for the following fall/spring.

Misner Family Endowment for Educational Leadership

  • This scholarship shall be awarded to a full or part-time first year graduate student pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership.
  • The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
  • Preference shall be given to students who are current or former public school employees in southwest Michigan
  • Preference will be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need.
  • Amount of award shall be determined by the awarding department committee, and shall be used for tuition and fees only
  • One half of the scholarship shall be made during the fall semester and one half shall be made spring semester.

Pratley Family Scholarship for Educational Leadership

  • This scholarship shall be awarded to full or part-time first year graduate student pursing a master's degree in Educational Leadership.
  • The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application.
  • Amount of award shall be determined by the awarding department committee, and shall be used for tuition and fees only
  • One half of the scholarship shall be made during the fall semester and one half shall be made spring semester
  • Preference will be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need.

Schau Family Endowment for Educational Leadership

  • This scholarship shall be awarded to a full or part-time first year graduate student pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership.
  • The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application
  • Amount of award shall be determined by the awarding department committee, and shall be used for tuition and fees only
  • One half of the scholarship shall be made during the fall semester and one half shall be made spring semester.
  • Preference will be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need.

Don and Helen Weaver, Endowment for Community Education

  • Doctoral students in the Educational Leadership program based on their activity and background in the area of school-community relations.
  • Amount of award shall be determined by the awarding department committee, and shall be used for tuition and fees only.
  • Awards will be accepted through Mar. 1 for the following fall/spring.
