Dr. Brian Horvitz

Biography

Dr. Brian Horvitz (Ph.D.) is an associate professor and the program coordinator for WMU’s Educational and Instructional Technology Program where he teaches courses in instructional design, educational technology, online learning, and school leadership. Dr. Horvitz has taught in this primarily online Master of Arts degree program at WMU since 2006. His research interests include the transition to online learning in higher education and online technical education. Dr. Horvitz currently serves as a co-principal investigator on a U.S. National Science Foundation research project (award number 1501794) that is investigating the use of online learning federally funded online technical education programs in community colleges. While earning his doctoral degree at Indiana University – Bloomington, he worked as an instructional designer for two e-learning companies developing online instructional tools for clients such as the Microsoft Corporation, Eli Lilly and Company, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Recently, Dr. Horvitz served as the 2017 WMU Graduate College Faculty Fellow.
