Emerging Leaders

"Not only have I made friends that have the same interests as me, but I just explored my limits and busted through them."

"Emerging Leaders helped me feel comfortable to get involved at college. I met people like me, who wanted to get involved."

Emerging Leaders @ Fall Welcome

As a first year student and Fall Welcome participant, you have an additional opportunity to apply to be a part of the Emerging Leaders program.  This program is ideal if you are interested in continuing your leadership skill development and/or beginning your leadership journey at WMU.

The Emerging Leaders program incorporates skill building activities, dynamic speakers, and opportunities to interact with current WMU student leaders.  Additionally, you will begin building relationships with other emerging leaders, learn how to get involved on campus during their first year, and you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with other new incoming students. There is no additional cost for this program.

For additional information, contact Kate Bates at katherine.bates@wmich.edu or Terri Riemland at terri.riemland@wmich.edu

Please note: You must be a first-year student participating in Fall Welcome in order to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program

The program impacted me in ways other than as a leader. It made me think, it made me want to take college seriously.
