For some people, a master's degree just isn't enough. The personal and professional growth they desire requires more. For educational leaders who want to go further than their master's degree will take them, but who don't want to commit to a full PhD program, WMU offers an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.
People seeking an EdS degree should be certain about their academic and professional goals. It's not a PhD program, but it's no less rigorous. The program is designed for working professionals and is, therefore, incredibly flexible. Classes are scheduled to accommodate the schedules of busy students.
School administrators, teacher leaders, and educational directors in K-12 schools with at least three years of experience and a related master's degree are encouraged to apply.
Professionals who obtain the EdS in Educational Leadership can advance to leadership positions in Higher Education or K-12 settings, depending on area of focus and commensurate experience.
