
A single application form
is used for all three awards. Applications are also available in 410 Sprau Tower.
Department Travel/Study Abroad Award:
Amount: Minimum $400 (number and amount of awards to be determined)
Purpose: To encourage students to further develop their language skills and broaden their understanding of other cultures. The awards may be used for travel/study abroad during any part of the summer or academic year.
Deadline: February 15.
President's Scholarship for Study Abroad:
Amount:
12 scholarships of $1,000 each.
Purpose:
To be used by a French, German or Japanese major or by an Arabic, Chinese, Classics, or Russian minor for study abroad for a minimum of one semester in a University-approved program.
Deadlines: October 15, February 15.
President's Award for Study Abroad:
Amount:
Two awards of $1,250, one given in the fall semester; the other in the spring semester.
Purpose:
To be used by a French, German or Japanese major or by an Arabic, Chinese, Classics or Russian minor to study at a foreign university, or in a study abroad program sponsored by an American university, for a minimum of one semester. Deadlines: October 15, February 15.

Tamin Loan Fund:
Amount:
Loans of up to $500 for student of French
Purpose: In
honor of professor emerita Marion Tamin.
Recipients are selected by faculty on the basis of academic excellence and dedication to foreign language study
Mathilde Steckelberg Scholarship: One each in Classics, French and German; approximately $600 each.
Victor Coutant Award in Classics: $100
Eunice E. Kraft Award for Excellence in Latin: $100
Praemium Octavianum in Classics: $100
Margaret H. Brooks Award for Study in France: $100
Herman E. Rothfuss Award for Excellence in German: $1000
Russian Club Award for Excellence in Russian: $100
