
Associate Professor Jeffrey Angles' forthcoming book, Forest of Eyes: Poetry of Tada Chimako, has won the 2009 Japan-US Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature. The book will be published in fall 2010 by the University of California Press. The prize, which includes a monetary award, is offered annually by the Donald Keene Center for Japanese Studies at Columbia University. Each year, there is one prize for a translation of modern literature (Dr. Angles' award) and a prize for a translation of classical literature.
