Lectures:

A reading and talk by Vyacheslav Kupriyanov, visiting poet from Russia: Wednesday,
April 9, 4:00 p.m., 10th floor of Sprau (see his bio below).
Dr.Dasha Nisula has invited Mr. Kupriyanov here for the entire week to visit classes and meet with faculty and students.  If you would like to meet him, share a meal, or invite him to your class, please let
Dr. Nisula know.

Vyacheslav Kupriyanov, one of the main writers of contemporary Russian free verse, has published the following collections: First Person in 1981; Life Goes On in 1982; Homework, 1986; Echo, 1988; Verses, 1994; Let’s Agree, 2002; and Better Times, 2003.  His books of poetry and prose regularly appear in German translation, and he has translated German and American poets for Russian anthologies.  In 2007 Kupriyanov’s poetry appeared for the first time in American literary journals, International Poetry Review and The Dirty Goat, in translations written by WMU professor Dasha Nisula.  His visit, arranged by Dr. Nisula, will be his first to the United States and to our university.
