Background:
Dr Lingenfelter’s has travelled extensively in China since the early 1980s and spent a year teaching English at a university in Sichuan. She travels to Shanghai at least twice per year, in keeping with her interest in Shanghai writers. She is currently working with Shanghai poet Wang Yin, on a book-length collection, and she is planning to begin a translation of Wang Anyi’s novel, The Age of Enlightenment, in the fall of 2009. She is also completing a book-length collection of poems by Chengdu-based poet, Zhai Yongming, for Zephyr Press. In the spring of 2008, she was awarded a PEN Translation Fund grant for her work on Annie Baobei’s novel, Padma, which she expects to finish translating in the spring or summer of 2009.
