Pamela Rups picture

Pamela Rups, Coordinator

Pam has worked at WMU since July 1979! As an instructional graphic designer, she started using computers in the mid 1980s and taught many software and computer classes for faculty, staff, and students through the Computing Center. In 2000 she became Coordinator of the ITCenter. Pam started on a Mac and is still on a Mac, although she also has a Windows laptop.

Pam has a B.A. in German and Russian from Michigan State University and an M.A. in Medieval Studies from Western Michigan University, which just goes to prove you never can tell what life will bring your way. Her outside interests include bookbinding, creating artists's books, organic gardening, playing the fiddle and shakuhachi flute, calling dances, canoeing, hiking, and volunteering for hospice.

Julie Scott picture

Julie Scott, E-learning Administrator

Although Julie is not officially part of the ITCenter, her office is in our area and she lends direct support to the Center.

Julie has been at WMU most of her life, or so it seems. She has a BS degree in Biology and a MS degree in Biostatistics, both obtained at WMU. She has been at her present position in IT since 1985. Currently her main job is supporting E-learning, which includes consulting with faculty about how to use E-learning in their courses, developing and delivering E-learning training, and doing a host of administrative tasks on the E-learning server.

During her time at WMU, Julie has seen many changes. Her first PC had two 5-inch floppy drives and no hard disk and ran MS-DOS. In 1991, she received a NeXT station upon which she became a mouse dependent person. Now, after using several Windows computers and laptops for the last 15 years, she has switched to a MacBook Pro. She grumbles about the lack of a right mouse button, but so far thinks the Mac is pretty cool.
