Faculty and staff members may publish course and/or personal Web pages in their Bronco NetID Web space. Faculty members who require assistance with putting coursework online may contact the Instructional Technology Center on the second floor of the University Computing Center, phone 387-6958.
Departmental Web pages should reside on WMU's primary Web server, www.wmich.edu. Accounts on the server are used to access the Web space and may be obtained by contacting the at 387-5436. And, passwords may be changed here. If your department already has an account, but you are unsure of the account name and/or password, contact the Account Coordinator.
The University's Web presence (look and content) is owned by the Office of University Relations. As of 2010, new standards for Web pages at WMU are being developed. In the mean time, any questions about what is appropriate should be referred to , Director of Electronic Communications.
To discuss issues and share information about publishing Web pages at WMU, join the Webmasters' User Group (WUG). WUG holds monthly meetings and the schedule, and other helpful information about Web publishing at WMU, may be found on the WUG Web site. >
The recommended and supported product to create and manage Web sites, both departmental, and individual, at WMU is Dreamweaver. This product may be purchased at an educational discount through TotalTECH, located in the University Bookstore in the Bernhard Center. Front Page is not recommended for use on WMU's Web servers and using it may cause problems with your site.
Another package that is very useful in working with, or creating images, is PhotoShop Elements. This package is also available at an educational discount through TotalTECH.
