Bronco NetID

The primary computer account available to all current faculty and staff members and verified emeriti and retirees is called a Bronco NetID (see Bronco NetID Services and Quotas). These accounts are created automatically after Human Resources has processed the new hire information. A Bronco NetID is used for all official WMU communicationand access to online services offered through GoWMU, and other services such as:

Bronco NetIDs are issued with a temporary password which must be activated before the account can be used. To activate your password, go to gowmu.wmich.edu and click either "First Time Logging in" or "Set Your Password". When you activate your password, you will be prompted to create a challenge phrase. This will allow you to reset your password if you've forgotten it.

Passwords must be changed at least once per year. Beginning thirty days from the anniversary of the last changed date, emailed notices, as well as notifications within GoWMU will be made. For more information, see Password Guidelines and the Password Management Policy.

A WMU email address is created at the time of the Bronco NetID creation. This email address is in the format of firstname.lastname@wmich.edu. It is the email address used for all official mailings from WMU. All email to students should be sent using the student's wmich.edu address. To email an entire class at once, please see Using Enterprise Directory Distribution Lists.
