Tycho Fredericks, PhD, CPE 



Dr. Tycho Fredericks is an associate professor in Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and Director of the Human Performance Institute at Western Michigan University. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Wichita State University and is a gubernatorial appointee to the General Industry Safety Standards Commission. He is a member of the Joint Ergonomics Standard Steering Committee and the Ergonomics Standard Advisory Committee for the state of Michigan. Dr. Fredericks is also a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist and author of more than 80 referred publications. He maintains his teaching and research interest in the areas of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, low back injuries, and safety. His work has been published in North America, Europe, and Japan.

Dr. Fredericks has done consulting with such diverse companies as Kelloggs, Humphrey Products, Steelcase Inc., Imagyn, Kysor-Medallion, MicroPulse, Hays-Albion Foundry, Stryker Medical, IDEO, Bronson Methodist Hospital and the Haworth Company. He received the 2000 Ray Witt Management Award from the American Foundrymen's Society for his research on Ergonomic Issues in the Grey and Ductile Iron Foundry Industry. He is a member of the Human Factors Ergonomics Society and Institute of Industrial Engineering.
