The Center for the Humanities invites along with the Social Justice Ministry Planning Team of St. Toms invites you to the Earth Day Program and Gathering - Green Thinking Our Yard: how to match our water use with our plant needs on Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Student Parish, 421 Monroe Street in Kalamazoo. Guest Host, Steve Elms, is an Arborist from Farm N Garden. He will focus on the conservation of water in the maintenance of our lawns, vegetable gardens, and landscaping. Among the topics covered will be why water is important to plants, how and where to apply water, how much water is needed and, finally, when water is most critical! Given the severe drought and high heat we experienced last summer, better understanding the plants we choose for our yards and how to take care of them will help us to protect our investments, our environment, our home! Please bring questions. This is a free event and open to the public. Refreshments will be available. Please bring a friend.
