The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 provides opportunity for employees to take
an unpaid leave of absence from work under certain conditions.
FMLA regulations and applications are very complicated. Employees facing a situation where a Family and Medical Leave may be applicable are urged to contact Human Resources. A Human Resources Representative will be happy to speak with you and explain how FMLA may affect your situation; all
such conversation are confidential.
For detailed Family and Medical Leave guidelines, please see the HR Policies and Procedures Manual - Section 13 (this section applicable to all University faculty
and staff).
