Second Year Experience
A lot of attention and resources are given to first year students, and then they suddenly find themselves on their own their second year. The SYE is designed to ease that shift. Second year students already know how to navigate Western, so the SYE focuses on providing direction in personal, academic and career related matters. The French Hall staff is specifically trained to work with upper-class students.
Hall Highlights
- French Hall is designated for students with sophomore status or above
- SYE program hosts a monthly alumni dinner that lets residents network with alumni from their academic college
- SYE activities focus on career exploration and academic success, such as career assessments, meeting with career counselors, a major fair for undecided students and tutoring
- Basics such as developing a resume, finding internships and how to interview for a job a focus for spring semester
- French Hall located near the Student Recreation Center and University Arena
How do I sign up for the community?
Students returning to campus for another year can sign up for French Hall during the online sign up process in early spring. If you have a roommate preference, both you and your roommate must request each other in order to be matched in the community.
