[Important dates] [Tips for a hassle-free move out] [Express checkout option] [Move out checklist]
The end of the semester is approaching fast. In a few short weeks it will be time to head off to home, summer jobs or summer classes. Move out is always a hectic time. The following information will help you get prepared now so you can focus on the important things – finals and saying goodbye to friends.
There are three key parts to checking out of your room:
| • | Removing your personal belongings |
| • | Cleaning the room and putting it back the way it was when you moved in and |
| • | Checking out with a staff member or via express checkout |
| Week of April 7 | Attend your floor meeting about closing. You don’t want to miss this info! |
| April 16 | Large dumpsters will be outside for big items. Check outside your hall for Salvation Army donation sites. |
| 11:59 p.m. April 19 | 24/7 quiet hours start. Be respectful of those studying for finals. All personal lofts must be taken down before 24/7 quiet hours start. |
| April 21 – 25 | Finals – good luck! Sign up for a check out time with your RA or pick up Express Checkout information at your front desk or hall office. |
| April 25 | All halls close at 7 p.m. Have a great summer! |
| Students with a role in graduation must connect with the hall director by April 14 to make arrangements to depart Saturday, April 26. | |
| • | Headed home for the weekend? Start taking things home that you don’t need. It will mean less to pack and carry when you do check-out |
| • | Take a look around your room. Enter any maintenance items into Bronco Fix-It so you don’t have to worry about them later |
| • | Personal lofts must be dismantled before the start of 24-hour quiet hours at 11:59 p.m. April 19. Loftable furniture can be left as is |
| • | Large dumpsters will be outside for lumber, carpets and furniture |
| • | Attend your floor’s move-out meeting |
| • | Schedule a check-out time with hall staff. Staff will inspect the room to ensure it is in move-out condition |
| • | Allow about an hour to move everything from the room to your car. It helps if everything is packed before any move-out helpers arrive |
| • | You can leave any time during finals week. With the traffic around the halls and a high demand for the elevators, leaving early may mean avoiding the congestion of the last day |
| • | Mops, brooms and other basic cleaning supplies will be available at the front desk. There will also be an adhesive remover to get things off the walls |
| • | Laundry carts will be available, but on a first come, first serve basis |
| • | The freight elevators will be available for move out in the Big Three and Little Three. Watch for signs listing hours the elevators are available |
| • | All policies are still in effect during finals week; students with disruptive behavior may be asked to leave immediately |
Express checkout is available in Bigelow, Davis, French, Henry, Hoekje and Zimmerman halls.
Express checkout allows you to skip walking through your room with an RA. When you’re ready to leave, you just turn in your key and signed Express Checkout form and go. Express Checkout is easy, convenient and flexible. However, if you think your room may have damages, you won’t be able to discuss them with staff or appeal them after the fact. Watch for more information about Express Checkout coming in the next few weeks.
