Landlords - Registered Landlord Program

Registered Landlord Program Requirements

MINIMUM STANDARDS
Landlords agree to maintain minimum housing standards as required by local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, and statutes applicable to residential rental property.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE
Landlords owning or managing property in the City of Kalamazoo are required to have a certificate of compliance for rental units listed in the City. For questions on compliance, call the City of Kalamazoo at 269-337-8026.

RESIDENTIAL LANDLORD TENANT LAW COMPLIANCE
Landlords are required to comply with, and write their lease, in accordance with all federal, state and local Landlord/Tenant laws. It is recommended that Landlords either have an attorney review their lease.

LANDLORD AVAILABILITY
Landlords will provide a time when, and a phone number where, he/she can be reached during normal business hours to discuss rental disputes.

NON-DISCRIMINATION
Landlords will not discriminate against tenants because of their race, religion, color, sex, age, handicap, national origin, familial status, height or weight.

Registered Landlord Services

INFORMATIONAL BROCHURES
Brochures of interest to landlords such as evictions, security deposits, maintenance, and many other rental topics are available on request, or available on the OCL website.

PICTURES
The registered landlord fee includes an exterior picture of your unit on Community Living’s website. Landlords may also choose to provide their own photos of the rental property (Western Michigan University OCL reserves the right to reject photographs). These pictures should be 320w x 240h (pixels).

All Rental and Roommate Listings are available to students via this web site.
