Prospective Students

An Invitation to Grow

For incoming freshmen, admission to the Lee Honors College is by invitation only. High school students who are accepted to WMU will receive an invitation to join the honors college if they have an ACT composite score of at least 26 and a GPA of 3.6. Students who can demonstrate a rank within the top 10% of their high school class also are welcome to join.

Students may be admitted at other stages of their academic career. In addition to entering as a new freshman, a currently enrolled student at WMU who has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better is welcome to submit an application for admission. Those students who join the honors college as current WMU students need a minimum of 4 semesters to complete their coursework and thesis.

Similarly, transfer students also are welcome to apply for admission (with supporting materials) if they carry a cumulative 3.5 GPA. Those students who transfer from an institution of which the Lee Honors College has a reciprocal agreement are granted automatic admission into the honors college.

The Lee Honors College typically has room for approximately 270 new students each academic year.

Best Wishes,
