Too often we hear juniors and seniors tell us they hesitated to get started on the senior thesis project because they heard "horror stories" about it. "Horror stories," we wondered? So we asked, "What kind of horror stories?" Well, they were horror stories when we heard them. But not one was true. When we explained the actual process, students always said, "What a relief. That is not as bad as I had heard." Believe us, it is not. So, as you begin to think about the thesis process, please consider the following frequently asked questions, for which the answers are provided.
It is the equivalent of a three-hour independent study course. You should be able to do it in a semester, or slightly more.
The type (it can be based on an internship, a curriculum guide, an art project, etc.) and content of the thesis determine its length and format.
The normal presentation is ten minutes and then your committee asks you questions about your project, in what should be a cordial atmosphere.
Over 95% of students pass it the first time. If you stay in contact with your committee throughout the process it is extremely unlikely you will not pass.
Only you and the members of your committee decide the content and format of your thesis. The LHC is simply the administrative unit.

The great majority of students do NOT take the thesis for credit. Thus, it is NOT graded. It is simply pass/fail. The purpose of the committee is not to put pressure on you and grade you, but to GUIDE you through the process.
