
Any student who has participated in Midwest Academically Talented Youth Program can sign up for this course. If you have any students who are advanced in social studies, then we are willing to consider allowing that student to attend. Please contact us.
AP World History is a comprehensive course that looks at the world’s history from 8000 B.C.E. to the present through he evolution of global processes and contacts. History is learned through interactions with different types of human societies through analysis and comparison of primary sources. The nature of changes and continuities of time and their causes as well as consequences will be studied primarily for the areas of Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Students will be taught to assess primary data, evaluate arguments, make comparisons among societies and draw generalizations.
Students should expect 5 – 7 hours of outside work. Writing and reading will be important parts of this course. Students should also have access to a computer with Internet access for research and discussion.
