High school students who are accepted to WMU will receive an invitation to join the honors college if they have an ACT composite score of at least 26 and a GPA of 3.6. Students will receive a letter of invitation from the Lee Honors College a few weeks after their admission to Western has been finalized.

At the end of each Fall and Spring semesters, the Lee Honors College invites current WMU students to join the LHC community. These are students who have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better for two consecutive semesters and will be enrolled for at least three more semesters before graduation. All WMU students who qualify will receive an email with instructions on how to accept the invitation. All incoming transfer students with a GPA of 3.5 or better will be invited to join the Lee Honors College. Students transferring from a community college that has an Articulation Agreement with the LHC will automatically be accepted. Requirements for those students include an honors certificate with a GPA of 3.2, or 9 credits of honors course work with a GPA of 3.5, and a letter of confirmation from the director of the community college honors program. Following admission to the LHC, all students are required to consult with the academic advisor of the LHC to establish an appropriate course of study in the honors college leading to graduation from WMU and the LHC.
Membership in the Lee Honors College also includes an Honors College Program Fee of $75 per semester each fall and spring. This enables us to offer additional honors-style courses, reduce the number of large classroom courses, attract the highest quality instructors, and provide opportunities for co-curricular activities outside the classroom that add to your learning and development.
