Professor Nora Faires Hosts a Discussion of Her Paper "'Talented and Charming Strangers from Across the Line': Gendered Nationalism, Class Privilege, and the American Women's Club of Calgary"

The History Department's Research Committee was delighted to present Professor Nora Faires in a discussion of her paper "'Talented and Charming Strangers from Across the Line': Gendered Nationalism, Class Privilege, and the American Women's Club of Calgary"

Professor Faires is a member of the History Department at Western Michigan University. This paper is part of her ongoing research on migration across the Canada/ United States border, focusing on the intersections of gender, class, and ethnicity in this borderland. Other projects include studies of migration from Ontario to Michigan from the late 18th century to the early 20th century, and of poor African Americans in the Great Lakes basin. This talk is co-sponsored by the Canadian Studies Committee.
