He is an engaged community civic leader and has a special interest in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings. He has been counsel for restoration and dedication of historic homes in Brush Park, Detroit, Michigan. While a partner at Gandelot, Stoepker & Dickson, P.C., he was deeply involved in the restoration of the Charles C. Trowbridge House, which records show to be the oldest existing residence in Detroit. The home was built in 1826. Mr. Stoepker credits his lifelong interest in history to “the incredible wealth of knowledge that was provided to me by a very dedicated group of professors” in the Department of History at Western Michigan University. “The classes [I took] prepared me for law school and the analytical thinking process utilized in the practice of law.”
