Dr.
Toledo is an expert on the 19th and 20th centuries history
of american medicine. His recent writings have focused on the
biographies of eminent american and world surgeons. His objective
has been to understand their frame of mind when they made their
contributions. He has produced multiple articles and four books
on the lives and accomplishments of modern contemporary and
Nobel prize-winnner surgeons. His university courses have varied
from the teaching of american medicine in the 19th and 20th
centuries, as well as the history of american medical ethics,
the history of american science and technology and the origins
of american scientific medicine.
In
addition, he has taught the history of modern and contemporary
Mexico, reaching for a comprehensive view on the political
and sociological history of the country. Furthermore, his latest
courses included the history of the borderlands as it pertains
to Mexico and the United States. He is currently working on
a book to be titled "Surgeons on their century," which
is due to the publisher in June 2001.
