Selected publications: A Rural Society in Medieval France: The Gatine of Poitou in the 11th and 12th Centuries; Life in a Medieval Village; principle author of Le Conventum d'Aquitaine (vers 1030); percurseur des premieres epopees; articles in many different journals and collections.

Dr. Beech is a cofounder and coeditor of the journal Medieval Prosopography (1980) . Current Research Interests: 11th century Aguitaine; its cultural and religious relations with England, Spain, Italy, and the Crusader East; personal name studies; origins of epic narrative and vernacular poetry; the Muslim kingdom of Zaragoza in Spain; biography of the first troubadour poet, William IX of Aquitaine.
