

Who We Are
The University Substance Abuse Clinic (USAC) at Western Michigan University is a licensed and accredited outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment provider in Michigan. Substance use disorder services are provided by therapists licensed in the state of Michigan who have extensive training in the delivery of assessment, individual, group and family treatment services. USAC also serves as a training site for graduate level health and human services students who provide treatment services under the supervision of USAC clinical director and the faculty of Western Michigan University’s Specialty Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Who Can Benefit
Anyone who is currently experiencing problem with the use of alcohol or other substances or required to participate in treatment for substance use problems. The duration and intensity of treatment services are matched to the individual’s need following a thorough assessment. Students, involved with the University’s Office of Student Conduct, can benefit from prevention and diversion services USAC offers. Treatment services are also available to students and other young adults experiencing substance use problems.

University Substance Abuse Clinic is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF) and is licensed by the state of Michigan to provide treatment for substance use disorders. USAC provides outpatient treatment services in six counties in southwestern Michigan. USAC is a contract provider of substance abuse services for the Michigan Department of Corrections, Kalamazoo Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Kalamazoo County Drug Treatment Court, Western Michigan University and state parolee and probationers in Kalamazoo, Barry, Calhoun, Cass, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties.
