| The School of Social Work has a limited number of scholarships available to assist students during their programs of study. The criterion for each scholarship varies. Applications are provided by the School of Social Work and are due before the start of the fall semester each year. Applications for the following scholarships are not provided until the applicant is accepted into a master of social work program. | |

| The WMU Student Financial Aid Office. The Student Financial Aid Office facilitates application to various financial assistance programs. For all loan information, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid early in the application process. Early loan applications have priority. It is best to apply between January 1 and March 1. | |
| Federal Direct Subsidized Loan (FDS). FDS is a federally financed and subsidized student loan made on the basis of the student’s financial need and other specific eligibility requirements. In order to apply, a Free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form must be filed. Students may borrow up to the cost of attendance less the expected family contribution and any other aid received. Students may not borrow more than the maximum annual or aggregate amount. The federal government does not charge interest on these loans while the borrower is in enrolled at least half time, during a six-month grace period, or during authorized periods of deferment. | |
