
The master's degree is a two-year post-baccalaureate professional degree. Its primarymission is preparation of professionals who have the knowledge, judgment, andproblem solving skills necessary to provide high quality services and leadership in speech-language pathology. A goal is to enable graduates to work effectively in an ever-changing world. As part of the degree program students must successfully complete all academic and clinical practicum requirements for ASHA's CCC-SLP.
Those
with undergraduate majors other than speech pathology and audiology
may be considered for admission with special status.
Admission Requirements
At
least nine semester credit hours including one course in biological
science, one course in physical science, and one course in mathematics.
At least six semester credit hours in behavioral and/or social sciences.
At
least 15 semester credit hours (or equivalent) of courses that
provide
information on basic human communication processes (at least one
course in phonetics, one course in speech and language development,
and one course in the science of speech and hearing).
At
least 12 semester credit hours (or equivalent) of course work
in speech,
language, and hearing disorders.
Grade
point average of at least 3.0 in the last sixty credit hours of
undergraduate study and in all undergraduate audiology andspeech-language
pathology course work.
Competitive GRE scores.
Three
letters of recommendation (form) and
the applicant's responses on a
departmental application.
