American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)
AAPA recognizes the American Academy of Physician Assistants as the sole national organization representing physician assistants in the United States. Because of the many areas in which AAPA and APAP share common concerns ( e.g ., certification, postgraduate education, etc.), Association of Physician Assistant Programs APAP has found it valuable to maintain a close working relationship with AAPA. Since 1985, APAP has had a representative in the AAPA House of Delegates.

Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (SAAAPA)
The association recognizes SAAAPA as the sole organization most representative of physician assistant students. The Student Academy is represented to APAP by the appointment of a member of the Student Academy as liaison to APAP's Board of Directors.
