The Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) is a national organization open to all students in the graduate, undergraduate, and pre-occupational therapy curricula. SOTA plans fund-raising and social events and each year sends one member to the national AOTA conference.
Membership in Pi Theta Epsilon, an honorary professional association, is by invitation during the second semester of the programs. Academically, applicants must be among the top 35 percent of students in their programs. Initiation of new members occurs both in fall and spring semesters.
Both groups meet monthly and require minimal dues. Belonging to a student or professional organization is a good way to meet people, learn about occupational therapy, and increase awareness about current issues in the profession.
