Admissions

Master of Science (MSN)

 

Obtain both Graduate School and Bronson School of Nursing application materials from Deborah Rhoderick. (269) 387-8153 or deborah.rhoderick@wmich.edu

Complete the Application for Graduate Admission.

Obtain two (2) sets of official transcripts in sealed envelopes.

Complete the Bronson School of Nursing application form.

Obtain three (3) letters of reference reflecting the following:

  • An individual best able to comment on your most recent nursing employment
  • An individual who can speak to your prior academic achievements and potential
  • An individual who will speak to your potential for success in advanced professional nursing.
  • Prepare and send a Personal Narrative statement according to guidelines included on School of Nursing application.

Attach a current resume or curriculum vitae to the School of Nursing application.

Submit a copy of a current license to practice nursing.

Send completed materials together in the following envelopes:

White Envelope: Admissions and Orientation

  • White copy of the completed Application for Graduate Admission
  • $40 application fee
  • One set of transcripts in sealed envelopes

Buff Envelope: Bronson School of Nursing

  • Two blue copies of the completed Application for Graduate Admission
  • One set of transcripts in sealed envelopes
  • Completed Bronson School of Nursing Application
  • Three letters of reference
  • Narrative Statement
  • Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Copy of current license to practice nursing

Once all your School of Nursing materials are received, you will be contacted to schedule a time for the personal interview and the on-site written essay. The interview will be conducted by a minimum of two nursing faculty.

At the time of application, you must declare the selected area of study – either leader/manager or nurse educator.

Note bene: Applicants are admitted for study beginning in Fall semester only. Admissions decisions are on a continuous basis beginning March 15 each year, though applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Not every applicant who meets minimum admission requirements can be admitted. The nursing faculty reserve discretion in admitting the most highly qualified applicants.

Each accepted applicant will be assigned a nursing faculty advisor. The student will maintain a portfolio throughout the program. The portfolio will serve as a major mechanism in assessing attainment of the program outcomes
