This undergraduate degree program has been designed for three student audiences. The first group includes those who wish to work in health and human services in a non-clinical capacity. This degree will prepare graduates for entry- or mid-level administrative positions in ambulatory care facilities, health maintenance organizations, hospitals, long term care facilities, public health departments, public and private health and human service agencies, health related industries, non-profit health and human service organizations, managed health care, rehabilitation facilities, industrial health care, and employee assistance programs.
The second audience consists of students seeking admission into professional graduate health and human service degree and certificate programs. Additional community service and/or health or human service related employment might be required for some graduate programs.
A third track has been designed specifically for health care and human service providers wishing to upgrade their knowledge and abilities. The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Services will replace the existing General Health Studies curriculum offered through the Division of Continuing Education.
This will be the first interdisciplinary program at Western Michigan University, which will prepare students in the wide range of skills necessary to think critically, work collaboratively, and respond flexibly to change in the health and human service environment
