System Requirements

Windows

  • Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10*
  • 1 GHZ or faster x86 or 64-bit processor with SSE2 instruction set.
  • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) required, 2 GB RAM (64-bit) recommended for graphics features, Outlook Instant Search, and certain advanced functionality.
  • 3 gigabytes (GB) free disk space.
  • 1024 x 768 or greater monitor resolution.
  • Your computer must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to re-authenticate your Office installation

*32-bit Office can be installed on 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems and 64-bit Office can only be installed on 64-bit operating systems.

Mac

  • A Mac computer with an Intel processor.
  • Mac OS X version 10.5.8 or later.
  • 1 GB of RAM recommended.
  • 2.5 GB of available hard disk space. HFS+ hard disk format (also known as Mac OS Extended or HFS Plus).
  • 1280 x 768 or higher resolution monitor.
  • Your computer must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days to re-authenticate your Office installation

Download

The Microsoft Office desktop software is meant for home use only. Please do not install the Microsoft Office Desktop Applications from W-Exchange on University owned computers.

  1. Login to W-Exchange using your BroncoNetID along with @wmich.edu.
  2. Click the Install Now button begin the Office download.
  3. Follow the installation instructions below.

Installation

Remove any installations of Microsoft Office before installing Microsoft Office Desktop Applications from W-Exchange.

Windows

  1.  Double click the setup file you downloaded from W-Exchange to start the installation process.
  2. During setup, Office 2016 will begin installing in the background. Click Next to start. 
  3. Sign in if you would like to store documents in W-Exchange OneDrive. Remember to use your BroncoNetID@wmich.edu when signing into W-Exchange.
  4. Follow the on screen prompts to finish the installation. 

Mac

  1.  Double click the setup file you downloaded from W-Exchange to start the installation process.
  2. On the first installation screen, select Continue to begin the installation process.
  3. Review the software license agreement, and then click Continue.
  4. Select Agree to agree to the terms of the software license agreement
  5. Choose how you want to install Office and click Continue.
  6. Review the disk space requirements or change your install location, and then click Install.
  7. Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and then click Install Software. (This is the password that you use to log in to your Mac.)
  8. The software begins to install. Click Close when the installation is finished.
  9. Open any of the Microsoft Office applications and you will be promted to login. Remember to use your BroncoNetID@wmich.edu when signing into W-Exchange.
