Setting up E-mail using Outlook 2007

  1. Start Outlook 2007
  2. Pull down the Tools menu and select Account Settings...



  3. Click the New... button



  4. Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types button, click Next.



  5. Choose Internet E-mail, click Next.




  6. Type your Your Name & E-mail Address (example: firstname.lastname@wmich.edu)
  7. Server Information
    • For Account Type choose IMAP
    • For Incoming mail server enter imap.wmich.edu
      • GroupWise users enter imap.groupwise.wmich.edu
    • For Outgoing mail server enter smtp.wmich.edu
  8. Logon Information
    • For User Name enter your Bronco NetID
    • For Password enter your Bronco NetID Password
  9. Check the box that says Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) then click the More Settings... button and proceed to step 10.



  10. Click the Outgoing Server tab
  11. Check the box that says My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, then click the Advanced tab



  12. Select SSL from the drop-down menu for both Incoming server (IMAP) and Outgoing server (SMTP)
  13. Enter 993 in the text box for Incoming server (IMAP) and 465 for Ougoing server (SMTP)
  14. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings window.



  15. Click Finish on the Congratulations screen to complete your e-mail setup



  16. You have successfully configured Outlook 2007 to check your WMU e-mail account. To check for new messages, click on the Send/Receive on the Windows Mail Toolbar.
