5/7/08) People Soft Downtime Announced: PeopleSoft Financials which includes the following modules (Asset
Management, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Budget,Grants, Billings, Projects, and Contracts) will be down from 2 a.m.on Saturday, May 17 until 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.

(5/7/08) Sprau Tower Wireless Down Tonight: The wireless network for Sprau Tower will experience intermittent connectivity from 8:00 - 10:00 pm tonight while maintenance is being performed. After maintenance is completed, computers using wireless during this maintenance window may need to be rebooted to regain network access.

(4/23/08) VoIP Phone Outage Announced:Due to a system upgrade, the VoIP phones will experience a brief outage on April 30 at 6:00pm (about 20 to 30 minutes) In progress calls will be disconnected. The following building will be effected.

(12/17/07) Multiple Network Outages Announced: There will be multiple, staged network outages between the hours of 3 and 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Dec 19-21 while access points are upgraded. This affects all network connectivity, including access to the Internet, e-mail and file services; www.wmich.edu; homepages.wmich.edu; GoWMU; webmail; imap.wmich.edu; the "H drive" on computers in the BCC, CAE and UCC labs; and OIT-managed Sun workstations and VOIP phones. Even if a system appears to be restored, users are urged not to engage in any network activities during that time period as that could result in lost work or files.

(10/29/07) iTunes University will be unavailable from 1-1:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 1 due to iTunes system maintenance. This system maintenance is being performed by Apple on servers in California. Any problems will be worldwide and handled by Apple.

(9/18/07) Network Issues: The university is currently experiencing technical difficulties that are causing sluggish performance in the network. OIT is aware of the issue and technicians are working to resolve the issue. -jw


(9/17/07) Multi-cast Server Downtime Announced: The multi-cast server will be reloaded at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18. This will take approximately five minutes and affects Novell servers, IPTV and Access Grid Videoconferencing (Math).

(9/11/07) WMU Websites Scheduled for Downtime:Two WMU websites, www.wmich.edu and www.atis.wmich.edu will be down for approximately
ten minutes between midnight and 2 a.m. on Friday, September 14 for
a system reboot.

(8/23/07) ResNet Downtime Re-scheduled Today: On Thursday, August 23rd ResNet service in the residence halls will be unavailable from 1:30pm-11pm. At that time ResNet will be upgraded to support and accommodate users who are running the new Windows Vista operating system. Once the upgrade is complete users will be automatically prompted to install the latest version of the CleanAccess Agent on their computer. Once the new version of the Clean Access Agent is installed, users may log in like normal.

(8/21/07) Internet Service Down: Merit informed the university that as of 7:58 am today connectivity outside of Michigan is experiencing difficulties. Connectivity inside of Michigan is currently working. No estimation on recovery at this time, but technicians are addressing the problem.

(6/19/07) Downtime Announced for WMU Web Server: The WMU primary Web server, www.wmich.edu, will be down from midnight to 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 24 for software upgrades. All Web pages and/or applications served from www.wmich.edu will be affected.

(6/7/07) Educable Downtime: Related to the renovation of Brown Hall, some modifications need to be made in the EDUcable cable TV system that will probably affect Sprau Tower, Shaw/Gilmore, and Miller. The work is planned for Thursday, June 7, but could extend to Friday June 8. The work will probably cause complete losses of EDUcable service for the listed buildings. Outages will be kept to a minimum, but the work required is extensive. There will probably be at least one outage of several hours and there may be other outages of shorter duration.

(6/5/07) WMU remote dial-up numbers changing. Effective July 2, 2007, WMU's remote dial-up service provider will cease operations. WMU has switched to a new provider, so prior to that date, all students, faculty, and staff using WMU's dial-ups from outside Kalamazoo or Battle Creek will need to change to a new phone number.
