The Art of Surviving April 2014 WMu and Kalamazoo community memebers are invited to all events suring sexual assault awareness month.April is sexual assault awareness month. Events are organized by the Office of Health Promotion and Education's FIREplace sexual assault peer educators and other offices on campus and in the community. Western Michigan University and community members are invited to all events.

A discussion about healthy relationships including the performance 'Dykeopolis' by Kimberly Dark. This event is presented by Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center’s Queer Women’s Community and Western Michigan University’s Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Student Services.

Take Back The Night

Join us for our annual event as we stand together to speak up about sexual assualt. The healing process is different for every survivor of sexual assault but regardless of where you may be on your journey of healing, you have survived and you are not alone! Let’s reclaim the night!

Illuminate Love!

Friday, April 11, 6 p.m., Multicultural Center, Adrian Trimpe Building
The culminating event during the Day of Silence Week of Action at WMU, Illuminate Love is an opportunity for students to come together to celebrate an evening of food, local speakers, spoken word, luminaries and a dance to cap it all off. This event is sponsored by First Year Pride Alliance, a program of the Office of LBGT Student Services.

Free parking is available next to the Adrian Trimpe building in lots 39 and 100 for events at the Multicultural Center.

Sex Offender Registry Panel: Everything you need to know

Wednesday, April 16, Noon to 1 p.m, YWCA of Kalamazoo, 353 E Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo, Mich.
This panel discussion will provide information regarding Michigan’s Sex Offender Registry. Participants will gain insight into the registry requirements of adult and juvenile sex offenders in addition to being able to ask questions regarding how the sex offender registry impact the community.

Human Trafficking Victim Service Provider Training

Friday, April 25 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Rd, Kalamazoo, Mich.
The Kalamazoo Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition and the YWCA of Kalamazoo’s Sexual Assault Program are collaborating to provide victim service providers training on the topic of human trafficking. Victim service providers will learn about how to identify and respond, and what resources are available at the community, state and national level for victims of human trafficking.
