WMU Grad Talks : Inspiring Ideas Worth Sharing

What is WMU Grad Talks?
Grad Talks is a graduate student symposium designed and sponsored by the Graduate Student Advisory Committee here at WMU. This program is similar to and is inspired by TED Talks, in which students will be able to present their research ideas, book reviews, journal articles, theses, dissertations, etc., for 10 minutes.  This program is designed to give students chances to be published digitally in video media. Student presentations will be filmed and published on the Graduate Student Advisory Committee website for reference or future viewing.  We welcome submissions from all disciplines.

When and where will this program take place?
The presentations will take place from 4-6 pm every 4th Friday of each month in the Fall and Spring semester of each academic year starting in February 2014. Nevertheless, our First Grad Talks event is going to be held on February 21st, due to the Spirit day on the 28th. The Lee Honors College lounge room is going to be the host of our magnificent presentations.

 Who can take part in this program?
All graduate students who are registered at WMU full time or part time, main campus and extended university programs can apply to participate in this program.

How can I apply?
Application forms can be found here. Please download, complete and return to by the 1st Friday of each month by 5 pm. Notwithstanding, the deadline for our first event is on Thursday February 13th. The submissions will be reviewed by the Grad Talks committee and student will be notified if their application is accepted by the 3rd Friday of each month. Students will only be allowed to present one time for the academic year to give others a chance to participate.

Who can attend the presentations?
The presentations will be open to the public each month. Seats will be reserved for graduate students and their guest who pre-register to attend.
