Where can I get more information about textbooks and course packs for my classes at WMU-Grand Rapids?

Textbooks for classes at the Grand Rapids Graduate Centers are available by mail from the WMU Bookstore in Kalamazoo. You can easily order your textbook online. Make sure when selecting department you choose the one with "GR" in front. You can also order your textbooks by phone by calling (800) 922-6794 or (269) 387-3930, or fax your order to (269) 387-3941. You will need to identify your course by department, course number, CRN, title, and name of the instructor. When talking to staff at the Bookstore be sure to mention that you are an "EUP" student as our books are kept separate from the on-campus student books. You can pay for your textbooks with VISA, Mastercard, or Discover. Textbooks will be delivered by UPS to your address. (Allow 5-7 days for delivery.  Allow more time for delivery to a post office box. Overnight delivery is not available.) For more information on textbooks go to the WMU Bookstore page and select Textbooks on the left sidebar.

How can I pay my bill?

Payments can be made by credit card, debit card, or electronic check via GoWMU; or by check either through the mail or in person in Kalamazoo. Note: Grand Rapids cannot accept credit card payments for tuition. Paying by check at our location will take several days to process. For more details please see Payment Options in the Cashiering website.

When is the computer lab available?

The computer lab is available for student use when the building is open. For information on the lab policies and software available please check our Computer Labs page.

Do you have a library in Grand Rapids?

There is no library in Grand Rapids but students do have complete access to all of the University Libraries in Kalamazoo. You have special access to the library's off-campus librarian staff and web site so you do not have to travel to Kalamazoo for library services.

What is the procedure for closing the WMU-Grand Rapids due to bad weather?
  1. If the main campus in Kalamazoo is forced to close due to bad weather, the Grand Rapids Center will also close. Closing announcements for the main campus are available immediately at (269) 387-1001. This includes announcements that the university is closed, as well as announcements that the university will be closing at a specified time later in the day. If you call and hear, "There are no messages waiting," that means the main campus is open and there are no plans to close. Closing announcements are also posted immediately on the WMU home page, www.wmich.edu.

  2. If the weather or road conditions in Grand Rapids are considered too treacherous for safe local travel, the Grand Rapids Center may be forced to close, even if the main campus in Kalamazoo remains open. A university closure due to inclement weather is rare. Watch WOOD TV-8 or WZZM TV-13 or listen to WOOD-AM 1300, WOOD-FM 105.7, WLHT-FM 95.7, WLAV-FM 96.9 or WODJ-FM 107.3 for WMU-Grand Rapids Center closing updates or check our website at www.wmich.edu/grandrapids. Our self-imposed absolute deadline for closure decisions and posting closing notices is 3 p.m.

  3. Faculty generally try to reach consensus with students in their classes to determine how best to make up the instruction that was missed due to unanticipated closings and cancellations.

  4. Check out the same weather reports and forecasts we watch closely before making any closure decisions.

I can't make it to class, how do I let my instructor know?

Your instructor will usually provide you with a means of contacting him or her, either by telephone or voicemail. If you do not have access to that information or cannot reach him or her, you may leave a message for the instructor at our office, and we will deliver that message at the earliest opportunity.
