The Graduate Center for Research and Retention at WMU Invites ALL Graduate Students to Attend a Presentation on Writing Ethically and Well: Plagiarism, Patchwriting, and the Thesis/Dissertation

Participants will be able to:

  • Articulate how institutional definitions of plagiarism differ from their own personal understanding of plagiarism
  • Identify the consequences of engaging in plagiarism at the graduate level
  • Compare and contrast different levels of skill in paraphrasing from synthesis to patchwriting to plagiarism
  • Apply a range of strategies for using sources ethically in their own writing
