Western Michigan University Dames Endowed Scholarship for Spring 2010

The Graduate College will receive applications from master’s students in departments without a doctoral program for the Western Michigan University Dames Scholarship in Spring 2010.

First awarded in 1997 in accordance with an agreement made between Western Michigan University on the one side and the WMU Women’s Association and the University Dames on the other side, the scholarship is offered on a competitive basis to exceptional graduate students enrolled in a degree program at WMU. By the terms of the agreement, “Preference shall be given to a female candidate who has successfully completed a minimum of 15 credit hours toward the graduate degree.” Scholarships of up to $2,000 may be awarded in Spring 2010.

Nominations for the scholarships shall be made only by a department chair or graduate advisor. A nomination shall consist of the nominee’s vita and a letter of support from either the department chair or the graduate advisor. Nominations must be addressed to the Dean of the Graduate College and received at the Graduate College office in Walwood Hall by 5:00 p.m. on May 17, 2010.

Master’s students from the following WMU departments or areas are eligible for nomination:

            Anthropology
            Art, School of
            Blindness and Low Vision Studies
            Business, Haworth College of
            Civil and Construction Engineering
            Communication, School of
            Family and Consumer Sciences
            Geography
            Health, Physical Education, and Recreation
            Medieval Institute
            Music, School of
            Occupational Therapy
            Philosophy
            Physician Assistant
            Social Work, School of
            Teaching, Learning, and Educational Studies
