Abstract: Standards are sweeping across the physical education teacher education field. The purpose of this study was to investigate (1) whether national standards had influenced a change of curriculum and school-university collaboration, and (2) whether implementation of learning outcomes were related to individual and institutional factors. The analysis will also identify whether there are any individual and institutional characteristics that are significant predictors for determining curriculum, collaboration and implementation of learning outcomes. This study's targeted participants are a random sample of 110 program directors working in institutions that have a Physical Education Teacher Education program.
Differences were found to exist in directors' perceptions regarding curriculum, collaboration, and learning outcomes. Descriptive statistics analysis demonstrated the impact of standards on curricula changes and school-university collaboration. Multiple regressions revealed that the implementation of learning outcomes was related to NAKPEHE, years in a director position and external and internal factors. The result of stepwise multiple regressions revealed that external and internal factors and years in current position were positive predictors of the implementation of learning outcomes. These predictors accounted for 16.1% of variance.
