Dr. Zahir (Zach) Quraeshi, professor of marketing at Western Michigan University since 1978, is the G.W. Haworth Chair of Global Business and director of the Global Business Center at the Haworth College of Business. Quraeshi has been a visiting professor at universities throughout the world and was the Tan Sri Noah Distinguished Chair of Business at University Kebangsaan Malaysia (1995-96). Quraeshi's teaching, research and consulting interests are in the areas of international business and marketing.
Quraeshi is the founding editor of the Journal of Asia-Pacific Business. He has published numerous articles in journals including Business Horizons, Journal of Health Care Marketing, International Marketing Review, MSU Business Topics, Food Policy, Long-Range Planning, Leadership and Organizational Development Journal, Journal of International Marketing and Marketing Research, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Materials Management, International Journal of Management, Food Policy, Mid-American Journal of Business, Journal of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management, Journal of Marketing Channels, Journal of Global Business, Journal of Consumer Marketing and Journal of Management Development. Quraeshi was the co-editor of three books of readings in international business and serves as a reviewer for professional journals and is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of Global Business, Journal of Teaching in International Business, Journal of Global Business and Technology and Asian Academy of Management Journal.
He has participated as a speaker in international business workshops and has served as an organizer, session chair, moderator, panel member, discussant and reviewer on various occasions at professional international, national and regional conferences. Quraeshi has submitted and been awarded a series of multiyear grants under the U.S. Department of Education Business and International Education program. The most recent of these awards ($175,000) was for Haworth College of Business’ Project EDGE—Enhancing and Developing Global Expertise: ASEAN region, 2009-12.
Quraeshi was the recipient of the WMU Teaching Excellence Award in 1988. He is the chair of the International Business Education Committee in the Haworth College of Business. He was on the board of the West Michigan American Marketing Association and chaired its Global Marketing Committee (1988-90). He has been appointed to the international advisory panels of the graduate schools of business at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia. Quraeshi has been a member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of International Business, Academy of Marketing Science and American Society for Competitiveness and International Management Development Association. In 1982-83, Quraeshi was listed in Who's Who in the Midwest.
